Elizabeth Goryunova
Elizabeth
Goryunova is Director of International Relations for the Salt Lake Chamber* and
Executive Vice President & COO of the World Trade Center Utah**. At the Salt
Lake Chamber she is responsible for international business development services
for members of the Salt Lake Chamber, international hosting and events as well
as Chamber International Committee. She has been also facilitating activity of
the Chamber Policy Committees (Transportation, Legislative, Education etc). At
the WTCU she is responsible for organization operations and strategic
development, establishing collaboration agreements with international business
entities, conducting client consultations, providing and directing educational
programs and events, and international hosting.
Her
prior professional experience in international business development includes
serving as a Director of International Relations for the IMP, Russian Academy of
Sciences, where she led the effort in identifying international scientific
collaboration and fundraising opportunities for the Russian scientists. She
facilitated cooperation agreements between Russian Academy of Sciences and major
research centers and laboratories all over the world (for example, Los Alamos,
Rutherford). She established faculty/students/researchers exchange programs,
organized international conferences, workshops, educational events, participated
in international trade negotiations and hosted diplomatic receptions. In 1990
Elizabeth was recognized by the US Senate affiliated organization Peace Links as
one of 10 outstanding Russian women-professionals and traveled to Washington, DC
to participate in the workshop “Solving Problems Together”.
During
her tenure at the RAS Elizabeth graduated from Business Management School with
emphasis on International Marketing, and acquired accounting certification. She
also holds MBA and Financial Management Certification from Westminster College
and Executive Certificate of Global Business Management from the Salt Lake
Community College.
Formerly
a professional scientist and professor, teaching physics for scientists and
engineers, conceptual physics, astronomy and other physical science courses at
universities on two continents, she was appointed by the Governor of Utah to
represent public interests on the State Radiation Control Board, dealing with
nuclear regulatory issues, where she is currently a Vice Chair. She also serves
on the University of Utah International Center Advisory Board, World Trade
Association Board and on the Trade Fairs, Trade Marts & High Tech Parks
Committee of the World Trade Centers Association.
