Jason
Mathis is a lifelong
resident of
Salt Lake City
and a longtime leader in marketing and communication efforts for local
nonprofit organizations. He currently serves as the executive director of
Salt Lake City
’s Downtown Alliance and as executive vice president of the Salt Lake Chamber
of Commerce. In this role, Jason oversees all aspects of Downtown Alliance
programs, helping the nonprofit organization build a dynamic and diverse
downtown that is the regional center for culture, commerce and entertainment.
For
nearly a dozen years he promoted
Salt
Lake
through his work at the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau. Three of
those years were spent as director of tourism, supporting downtown attractions
and promoting
Salt
Lake
as a travel destination. He also planned and executed major events while
building close relationships with many community leaders. During his last five
years at the Bureau, Jason directed the organization’s communications efforts,
helping to brand
Salt
Lake
as an Olympic city with cosmopolitan amenities and unparalleled access to
mountain sports.
In
2005, he was recruited to help reshape Intermountain Healthcare’s public
profile. At Intermountain, he served as a communication strategist and
spokesperson for
Utah
’s largest medical organization, and helped to launch a new Intermountain
Healthcare brand in 2006. He also worked closely on national media relations
efforts, helping to educate local audiences about Intermountain’s leadership
role as one of the world’s top healthcare organizations.
Jason
has a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s degree in public
administration. Both degrees are from the
University
of
Utah
. He is the past president of the local chapter of the Public Relations Society
of America. He is also a board member of the Better Business Bureau of Utah, the
executive committee of the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau and
Salt
Lake
County
’s Convention Facilities Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Society
for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development and the Utah Society for
Healthcare Communications and Marketing.

in newspapers, magazines and websites and his
Salt Lake City
photos have appeared in hundreds of national and international media outlets.
Jason
lives with his wife and six-year-old son near downtown in
Salt
Lake
’s historic Marmalade District.
