Robin Riggs is the Vice President and
General Counsel for the Salt Lake Chamber. He has been with the Chamber since
2003. His first job out of law school was as Associate General Counsel to
the Utah Legislature. He then rose to greater prominence in the public policy
arena when he was asked by newly elected Governor Mike Leavitt in 1992 to be his
General Counsel. In 1997 he left state government to work for U S West, where he
was Vice President for Policy & Law and Director of Public Affairs. After the
merger with Qwest he was named President of Qwest for Utah. In 2003, newly
appointed Salt Lake Chamber President Lane Beattie asked Robin to join him at
the Chamber.
In addition to his Chamber position Robin also does business
development and government affairs consulting. Robin received his bachelor’s
degree from the University of Utah and his law degree and a masters of public
administration from Brigham Young University.
He is a native Utahn and grew up
in Salt Lake City and Bountiful. He currently resides in Sandy with his wife
Patricia and six children, including twin baby girls born in 2007.
