Leadership Utah Volunteer Holiday Charity Event was a
Success!
It was "the most
wonderful time of the year." Particularly if you were able join fellow
LUA members in December offering help at The Road Home
which has provided services and shelter
for the homeless in Utah since 1923. In addition to the multiple radio
personalities and stations broadcasting from the facility, literally
hundreds of volunteers were caught up in the exciting work and spirit of
giving back to their community. In addition to our own LUA members
contributing time and energy, many also held collection drives at their
work place and supplied The Road Home's Candy Cane Corner Store with
hundreds of new, unwrapped gifts for homeless families and their
children. All in all the entire LUA event was a great success...and one
more reason why you should be involved!
With your help during the two day event, the Road Home was able to
collect $602,725.63.
Now that the holidays are over, let's keep the giving spirit alive.
The Road Home needs our help 365 days a year. For more information

the saving power of love.

Utah Saves Volunteers!
Looking for an ongoing volunteer opportunity? The Volunteer Income Tax
Assistance (VITA) program provides free tax preparation services and
asset-building opportunities to low-income households. In 2006, more
than 11,000 free returns were completed by over 350 volunteers helping Utahans claim more than $9.5 million in Earned Income Tax Credits and
other tax credits. This year, we are looking for volunteers to help with
tax preparation and to serve as financial coaches to encourage
individuals and families to become Utah Savers and save a portion of
their refund for their futures. If you are interested, please contact
Jerilyn Stowe, 736-7710 or
Jerilyn@uw.org.
We wish you the best.
