Boards
and Commissions - An Opportunity to Make a Difference
Dear Chamber Member:
During my time in the Utah Legislature I learned about the importance of boards and commissions in influencing public policies. In a very real way, citizen members of the hundreds of boards and commissions in state, city and county government make a lasting impact on our community. The Salt Lake Chamber is making a concerted effort to make sure the business voice is heard. We need your help.
The former mayor of Salt Lake City, Deedee Corradini, is leading a Chamber effort to increase our representation on boards and commissions that are important to the business community. After her presentation in November to the Board of Governors, we decided to survey members about their willingness to serve.
The attached questionnaire will be used to assemble a database of Chamber members and their areas of interest and expertise. We will then work proactively to nominate Chamber members for the hundreds of vacancies that emerge each year.
Many times in government it seems like the same people are involved all the time. Wouldn’t it be great if we could nominate new talent to serve? I ask for your help in recruiting one to three qualified individuals who are willing to give of their time and energy to a worthy cause.
Thank you for your support. We live in a great community and the future is bright.
